New Beginnings

Very excited to start blogging about fitness again. If this blog title sounds familiar, you're not going crazy. I blogged about fitness for awhile a few years ago and then became sidelined by life and other interests...family, baby, work, new business ventures...

Recently, I've really gained some clarity that fitness is where my passion lies. Though my full time job is not in the fitness industry, some of the most rewarding hours of my week are spent leading group fitness classes and providing health and fitness advice to friends and family. Not to mention day dreaming almost daily about owning a fitness studio one day! Which is not a matter of "if", but "when"!

I'd like to keep this first post brief. I'm back. Blogging. Resurrecting The First Rep. I originally created this blog as a way to provide some insights to my own fitness experiences, provide information and guidance, and to serve as an accountability and motivational tool for myself and for others. The title was inspired when I considered how many times, even now, I start and stop a fitness program. Why is it so difficult to stay motivated? Heck, why is it always so difficult to get started? I realized that it's always that first day, that first mile, that first 10 minutes of a workout...that first rep, that's always the hardest. Once you persevere through that, the rest is gravy. By blogging here, it is my hope I contribute positive, quality posts to help and motivate. Please let me know if I fail miserably at this! I want to come out of the gate stating that I value feedback and want to drive content based not only on my interests but on yours as well. What would you like to read about? New workouts, nutritious recipes, motivation to participate in fitness challenges? Let me know! My hope is to start us off with a variety of topics. I'd like to break down exercises...especially those related to the classes that I teach. I'd like to feature new workouts since I LOVE to try new things.

Speaking of new things, many of us automatically equate working out with the gym. I'm guilty of this and often fall into the trap of thinking there is no way I can get an amazing workout in my home. Even though I know this isn't true because I've done plenty of amazing workouts that weren't even within 10 miles of a club! I also recently realized that I don't have the time to spend in the gym. I basically have the time to show up to teach and that's it. Life is hard with a baby...heck, life is hard whether you have children or not and time is precious. I have decided to pursue my own training on a largely home based basis. The gym definitely still has a place in my heart but there are EXCELLENT programs out there...many of which are as good, if not better than, an expensive personal trainer or expensive gym membership. (Yes, mine is free because I teach but I still don't have time to use it! And they still charge me for personal training.) I'll provide information to help you safely interpret and learn moves so you can be confident in working out safely at home.

Anyway, I could go on forever. Head on over to the "About Me" tab above to learn a little bit more.
